The Loggetta was designed by Jacopo Sansovino in 1537-1549 and was initially intended as a guard post. A work of both sculpture and architecture, it comprises a three-arch arcade richly decorated with works in marble and bronze.
The Bell-Tower was built in the twelfth century and then entirely rebuilt in the first years of the sixteenth century; after that structure collapsed in 1902, it was rebuilt exactly as it had been, with work being completed by 1912. Open to the public, the tower provides an extraordinary view of the city.
